We spend thousands purchasing products that we require daily, from hand creams to that perfect mascara. But why do we do this? What exactly do we get out of it all?
– Well it’s to take care of ourselves of course! No only do we look better, but we’ll feel better too – and that’s the most important thing.
How do we choose?
Do we choose by color, smell, price or packaging? Some products on the shelf catch the eye by being brightly colored, which can give off a fruity vibe. Others may prefer a subtle color, feeling a more neutral fragrance. Of course, the bright colors get our attention but does it mean the product is better than one with plain packaging? All of this extra thinking while shopping is just another burden that we encounter along with everything else we have to cope with in life.
Have you ever wondered how much we actually spend on looking good (or trying to?) There’s a whole list of items we buy to pamper ourselves, and if we don’t, it’s because we pay someone else to do the pampering for us. What with hairdressers, nail bars, and beauty treatments, there’s always some kind of treatment we can pay for. We work so hard that it becomes a treat and getting spoilt is what we deserve.
Wouldn’t it be great if when we woke up in the morning, a lady with a beauty kit arrived and we didn’t have to do a thing but sit and be pampered, while the other half supplies us with tea and biscuits?!
Hair first of all, consisting of a deep conditioning head massage. Then a new styled blow dry that takes years off!
A stimulating facial to wake us up, then face-changing makeup that would turn heads. Not forgetting hands and feet, a manicure and pedicure. Shaped and filed nails, hand cream massaged in, to soften the “dry washing up” hands, and a nail varnish that compliments our outfit for the day.
Let’s get those feet nice and smooth so we can find those open toe sandals from the bottom of the wardrobe. – We’ll save the fish pedicure for another day. We don’t want to be bullied by the local cats!
Accessories are next on the list. Something to flatter the perfect hairstyle, stunning makeup and beautiful hands and feet. Perhaps a silk scarf, small but practical handbag and jewelry that compliments the whole look. Sparkly earrings and a yellow diamond engagement ring to ward off any unwanted attention (now we’ve been made irresistible!)
Wouldn’t it be great if we didn’t even have to choose our own clothes! We would have the perfect outfit that makes us look good in all the right places – and hides the places that aren’t yet ready for the human eye to see!..
To top it all off, if that only took half an hour to achieve, an extra hour in bed could have been enjoyed… Yes… That was wishful thinking.
