The Makeup Show came to Orlando this past weekend and my mom and I were invited to work the show as press. Now this was my third year going to the show but I still felt this overwhelming feeling of nervousness and anxiousness. I was excited but sometimes my anxiety just gets the best of me. I literally spent the night before the show Snapchatting Autumn about what to expect for the show. By the way thanks Autumn for being so awesome!! Follow me on Snapchat (Sweettartbeauty) to see my silly updates and new product previews!
Unlike the 2014 show the blogger preview took place on Saturday morning instead of the usual Friday night. This actually worked out because I have a serious fear of being in Orlando at night. I don’t know what it is but it literally creeps me out. Anyway, we got up at 5:30 in order to be ready to leave our home by 7:30 so we could make it to the blogger preview at 9:00. Thankfully we made it there on time and the first person I saw was Autumn so that immediately calmed me down.
I want to take a second to rave about James Vincent. This man right here is a genius! He goes above and beyond to make sure every show is a hit. Even when it comes to the blogger preview he does the most excellent job of explaining everything to us and taking us piece by piece through our press bags. To say I adore him would be an understatement. He is always so kind and funny. I mean he had us rolling when he talked about girls that wear the dreaded sharpie eyebrows! It’s not a good look ladies please stop.
Jokes aside he spoke about how he became a makeup artist and gave us tips on how to make the most of the show. He told us about a keynote that would address the need for more diversity in the makeup world. I really wanted to see this keynote because I am always frustrated when I find that my favorite makeup brand fails to have my skin tone. There are so many variations of African American skin tones as well as Asians and Hispanics. Yet we are so under-represented in the beauty world. James wants to change that and I think this is a wonderful idea! Can’t wait to see where this leads.
Now I know many of you are dying to know what came in our press bags so I’ll jump right into it! Everything came in a big black bag with Temptu written on it. Inside were a bunch of products from a variety of brands. If I were to explain everything that came in the bag this post would be over 800 words. So I’ll just let you stare at the picture while I give you a brief rundown. Don’t worry I will be reviewing each product over the next few months.
