How many days has it been since you wore no makeup or products on your face at all? If you work in an office chances are you will wear makeup every day of the week and whilst you may feel you are rocking the flawless look, you aren’t.
The face is covered by some of the most delicate skin we have on our body. Some of us have an almost translucent look and that is a sign of just how fine and fragile this part of our body is.
Unlike the majority of our body, our face is exposed to the elements everyday. Taking pollution and sunlight with a relentless force. How do we thank it? By covering it up with man made products, blocking the pores and not protecting it well from the elements. So how do you give your skin a little break? You need a one day detox in your beauty routine.
Firstly you need to find a day, yes a whole day, where you aren’t afraid to bare all. Sundays might work for you but if not, squeeze it on a day off where you aren’t going to feel conscious about your natural appearance – which of course, you shouldn’t!
Detoxing your face isn’t all about the outside. You need to give your skin a little help from the inside. So make even more impact by following this guide on detoxing. Drink plenty of water from the moment you wake up. Warm water and lemon is a great first thing in the morning boost to wake up your cells and get them regenerating with efficiency.
Take your time to really warm your skin before you clean it. Using a warmed muslin, cover your face and take some time to relax. This will encourage your pores to open naturally. First you want to exfoliate your skin. Use some sea salt and clay, make a paste with green tea or water. Gently rub all over your skin and leave for 2-3 minutes. Rinse it all off and then use a bowl of hot water to create your own steam bath. 10 minutes later you will emerge with a dewy glow. Perfect opportunity for taking a no makeup selfie, although if you aren’t brave enough to bare all use one of the Snapchat Geofilters to enhance your natural beauty! We won’t tell, promise!
Steaming will help to purge any water and clean your pores thoroughly. It’s then time for another natural mask. There are hundreds to choose from so here is a guide to some simple home made ones. The most effective detox mask though is made from a couple of capsules of activated charcoal, a teaspoon of clay and apple juice. Leave your mask on for 10-15 minutes then remove completely.
Finish your routine with a splash of cold water and apply a layer of coconut oil. For added moderate SPF protection mix coconut oil with shea butter and some zinc oxide. A totally naturally way of protecting your face from the elements.
If you can include this detox into your weekly schedule, your skin will reward you with more glow and less wrinkles! Sounds good to us.
