Let’s get brutally honest for a minute. A major problem that I have is that I fail to take care of myself. It doesn’t matter if it’s working out or simply waxing my eyebrows, I am so lazy when it comes to self-care. I’ve been trying to correct this by trying something new to care for myself each month. A few months back I went to Antidote to get an eyebrow wax with my sister. Antidote Apothecary & Spa is in downtown Sanford Florida and provides spa services as well as salt room therapy.
The owner Julia and her daughter were so kind and patient as I went gaga over everything in her spa. But we will get to that later, for now, let’s discuss my service and whether I would return.
As mentioned earlier, I went in for a brow design. While scheduling my appointment online I noticed how easy it was to secure an appointment. I’ve been known to forget appointments so I also found it awesome that Julia sends text reminders for your scheduled service. This was back during The Makeup Show Orlando, and I needed my brows to be perfect because I would be taking pictures with all the cool people there. I will admit that I was nervous because the last person to do my eyebrows took off too much and now one brow grows thicker than the other. It was a mess, you guys. But, thankfully nothing like that occurred during this visit.
My sister, the brow design veteran, went first. Julia shaped her brows as if she were working on a piece of art. She took her time to make sure everything was just right. My sister looked so peaceful and watching her work even made me relax. Julia is obviously a pro and I can see why people love her spa so much!
Next, it was my turn. As many of you know I use a wheelchair, so I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to get into the room or that getting up on the table would present an issue. Thankfully, I was wrong! Between the help of Julia and my sister, I could not only get into the room but also get on the table with no problem. Just like that, it was time to tame these wacky brows of mine.
Much like my sister’s turn, my turn was very relaxing. I almost fell asleep but that would have been awkward. Even when she plucked my eyebrows, I felt nothing. The waxing was gentle and smelled wonderful. At the end, she applied this product that had a cooling effect. I’m not sure what it was and silly me forgot to ask. But, y’all it was the best my brows have felt in a long time. I was clearly ready for a date but sadly no guy to take me out!
After she made us pretty, she invited us to look at the salt therapy room. You guys, it looks so peaceful in there. I wanted to just lay on the floor and take a nap. If you are ever in the Sanford, Florida area and you would like to try salt therapy please visit Antidote Apothecary & Spa in the downtown area. You will love it!
As we made our way to the front, Julia showed us around the store front. At Antidote Apothecary & Spa, you can purchase Besame cosmetics, Antidote Apothecary & Spa tank tops, Antonym Cosmetics (who I later went on to see at The Makeup Show), vintage clothing & accessories, organic skin care and bath & body, organic & vegan mineral based makeup, gentlemen’s face & beard grooming items, and herbal teas. We couldn’t purchase anything at the time but, I am going back for a tank top and Besame cosmetics!
So, the big question is, would I go back? The answer is simple, yes! Julia was so nice and I loved the feel of her spa. I may go ahead and get a full-face wax to rid me of these hideous sideburns, but I haven’t’ decided yet. I have only had one professional facial in my lifetime, so I am considering getting a facial also. Who knows! I just know that this is now my home for brow design.
