Life has been tough for my family and I since mid 2015. My husband retired and I suddenly lost my job. To say that we were stressed would be the understatement of the year. It hurts me to see my children in their adult lives not happy and seemingly stuck in a rut. We butt heads often but I love all of my children so much. But, I must admit I haven’t shown them as much due to the extreme stress we have been under.
With my youngest daughter having a health setback, our routine has changed even more. Now needing help to get about, everyone is feeling increased stress and depression. So to minimize the stress we are all feeling and to promote peace in my household I decided to purchase one of their favorite desserts, the EDWARDS® Turtle Pie. I can remember as far back as living in a trailer in Georgia, how excited my family would get when they saw an Edwards® pie on the table. Being that we are from Georgia originally, pecan was always the pie of choice. Now with the many flavors, we can’t seem to pick a favorite.
The day we ate our pie was a particularly stressful day. We were worried about personal matters. My daughters were not seeing eye to eye and even our dog Shiloh was stressed out. Seeing how the day was turning out I announced to my family that I had brought a little treat home and for them to come to the table. Once they laid eyes on the Edwards® pie their eyes lit up and even Shiloh our dog seemed excited, sadly he could not have any, he’s watching his figure.
The Edwards® pie was beyond delicious and almost didn’t make it to see another day. We have a major sweet tooth in this household and little to no self-control. But, we feel that after the stress we have been under and the stresses that we face when we venture out into the world, we deserve a little pie break.
