Women are notoriously self-critical of the way we look. Maybe it’s because we’re perfectionists, maybe it’s because we spend too much time comparing ourselves to other women, who knows. And while we’re told that we should accept our imperfections and love ourselves regardless, it doesn’t stop us from wanting to get rid of them. While it might not be possible to overcome of our perceived imperfections without more drastic measures, here are some commonly hated aspects of women’s bodies, and how we can perfect the imperfect.
The inevitability of stretch marks as we grow, our bodies develop, and then we have children just seems a bit unfair. While we know that they fade to almost unnoticeable silvery slithers after a while, the dark, deep cuts of a new stretch mark are prone to make us particularly self-conscious when we have to get our clothes off. While it’s not possible to get rid of them easily, we can make them fade much faster using an aloe vera gel or castor oil on the affected areas. These help to skin to regenerate when massaged into the skin regularly.
Sometimes we don’t make the smartest decisions in our youth, and we enter adulthood with a crazy tattoo that we’re no longer particularly fond of. All is not lost, though, and you don’t have to live with this embarrassing reminder of your misspent youth any longer. Tattoo removal procedures have come a long way in recent years, so don’t put it off any longer! Laser removal procedures are creating far better results, with little to no scarring either, so soon you can be rid of that embarrassing tattoo, once and for all.
Poor skin can obviously be the result of many different factors in adulthood. It could be as simple as bad habits like touching your face and hair with dirty hands, or it could be a result of a poor diet, lack of sleep, or hormonal issues. If your skin is particularly temperamental, and you’ve experimented with all manner of skincare routines, try changing your diet and exercise regime and see if there’s any improvement. Otherwise, it could be time to call in the experts.
Many of us dream of the day we can have long, unbreakable, and beautifully decorated nails, but for many it seems like an unobtainable dream. If, like many women, you’re stuck with nails that break at even the thought of contact, and you’ve ruined many a wool sweater with snag nails, then look no further. It’s all down to lack of moisture, and maybe a lack of calcium in your diet. Eat more cheese, rub an oil-based hand moisturizer into your nails every night before bed, and voila!
It’s probably the case that even Beyoncé is self-critical of an aspect of her body she doesn’t like. It’s just in our nature. So we have the choice to fix it or live with it. If you choose to fix it – good luck.
