If you remember last year I wrote an article about creating the perfect sleep environment. Since then, I have been taking all the steps I gave you in the article to help me achieve a restful sleep. But, I have still been struggling with anxiety and discomfort at night. Even more so now since my last health set back. With that said, here is a little update on what I’ve been doing to fight anxiety and discomfort to create a restful sleep environment.
- Relaxing room sprays– I didn’t mention this in my last article because I hadn’t really given them a chance to really work yet. But lately I have been obsessed with the Le Couvent Des Minimes Eau Sereine Relaxing pillow mist. For $18.00 you will receive a 3.3 oz bottle of the most relaxing pillow mist I have ever come across. I received mine free for review purposes but believe me when this runs out I will be purchasing another bottle from Ulta Beauty. I have also been into a room and body mist combo from The Rituals Of Dao. The scent is white lotus and yi yi ren, this scent oh my gosh you guys, if I could create scratch and sniff image for you I would. I spray this in my room and on my body before going to bed and each night, unless I’m especially anxious, I will sleep like a rock. You can pick up your Ritual of Dao Bed & Body Mist here for $25.00. Remember a little goes a long way to helping you have a peaceful rest.
- Invest in a quality pillow– I must be honest I can’t really afford to invest in a really great quality pillow, so for now I go for the $12 option at my local Ross or Walmart. I often wake up with neck pain and my pillow gets hot. I wondered why this occurs so I did my research. Did you know that pillows get hot because they are not made of breathable fabric? Your pillows fill can limit airflow and retain body heat, making for an uncomfortable rest. Which is a bummer if you have somewhere important to be in the morning. So Casper designed a pillow within a pillow; you can check it out here. The inner pillow is supportive, while the outer pillow adds a soft touch of fluff. Another plus about their pillow is that the 100% cotton cover features a breathable percale weave. Paired with the silky fibers inside, the cover increases airflow, so you always sleep on the cool side of the pillow. Yay! The Casper Pillow will set you back $75 for a standard pillow, but it is so worth it in the long run. Also, a friendly reminder, please replace pillows that are over two year’s old. Why you might ask? According to sleep.org, “night after night of sleeping on a pillow causes it to absorb body oil, dead skin cells, and hair. This can cause the pillow to smell and even worse, can create the perfect environment for dust mites.” Save yourself the trouble and replace your pillows people. The investment will far out way the amount of money you’ll possibly have to shell out on medical bills from catching things like colds and the like.
- Keep your room clear of clutter– I will honest, I am so messy and up until recently my room looked like a hurricane passed through. This kept me anxious and ruined my sleep. Finally, I enlisted the help of my sister and rid my room of clutter. Not only is it now clean but now I can sleep without that anxious feeling. Messy like me? Clean your surroundings. You will be pleased with yourself and your sleep will improve.
These are just some of the things I have been doing to improve my sleep. Of course, there are many things you can do to improve your sleep. In fact, please share your tips for a restful sleep in the comment section below. I’d love to hear your tips that may possibly improve my sleep also. In conclusion, utilizing room sprays, pillow mist, investing in a new pillow, and clearing your environment of clutter will hopefully help you just as it has helped me to improve my sleep.
