Everyone should book a ski vacation at least once in their life. A trip to a luxury ski resort such as Chateau Beauvallon, is the perfect antidote to a stressful job. And even if you are not really into skiing or snowboarding, what’s not to like about relaxing in hot tubs and enjoying some après ski nightlife and shopping?
Style is everything on the ski slopes. Pick the right resort, and you could be rubbing shoulders with the rich and famous. Imagine how cool it would be to take a selfie with a famous celeb or appear in the backdrop of a paparazzi shot of a movie star strutting their stuff. Unless you want to risk humiliation and extreme embarrassment, now is a good time to smarten up your look.
Check out the following guide to ski vacation fashion and accessories. A few carefully chosen accessories are all you need to hit the high spots on the slopes this year.
Don’t take more than you need. It is usually possible to hire skiwear rather than take your own, so if you don’t have much room in your suitcase, hire rather than buy essential skiwear. It is pointless taking a helmet unless you are a serious skier. Helmets take up a lot of room, so hire one when you arrive. This leaves more room in your suitcase for party wear and extra sweaters for the evening.
You will need a stylish ski jacket to keep you warm on and off the slopes. There are some fab brands to choose from, but we love the black Adidas Winter Performance Jacket. It’s very versatile and looks good anywhere. If you prefer something brighter and more colorful, look for a patterned jacket from a big name brand such as Rip Curl.
Ski goggles are essential. Without a good pair of goggles to protect you from the glare of the sun, you may as well be skiing blind (which is dangerous, obviously). Oakley does a super trendy set with Prizm lenses. These cool lenses adapt to the visibility, so you should have no problem seeing obstacles ahead.
The heat of the sun often takes newbie skiers by surprise. It can get surprisingly hot out on the slopes, so pack plenty of layers increase you feel a bit frazzled. Most ski accommodation is warm and toasty too, so even though trendy patterned sweaters look great, consider investing in merino wool and cashmere, as these help you breathe.
The nightlife at top ski resorts is amazing. Expect to be clubbing all night long, if you have the stamina. Pack a few slinky dresses that work well with warm snow boots. Sadly, high heels are not going to work in a ski resort, even if you wouldn’t normally be seen without your trusty pair of Manolo Blahniks.
Start preparing for your ski trip a couple of months in advance. Poor fitness will ruin your fun, so hit the gym and loosen up those tight tendons.
