The weather is starting to get warmer, leaves are starting to peep out of their hiding places and birds and soaring through the open skies. It all sounds quite idyllic really, doesn’t it? It means that summer is on its way and that can only mean one thing … festival season!
There are so many festivals that are cropping up all over the world, but whether you’re staying local or wandering across the globe, there are always fashion essentials that you need to take. It’s like the festival law.
No matter if it’s rain or shine, you will always need wellington boots at a festival. Even the smallest amount of moisture can transform a pitch with heavy foot traffic into a mud pit, and there’s no way you’d want to risk wearing normal flats or … dare it be said … flip flops and stilettos. Perish the thought completely – you need something practical and comfortable that will protect your legs and keep you as dirt-free as possible. The great thing about these shoes is that they come in a variety of different colors and patterns, from plain to glittered to tartan. Take your pick and go for one that suits your style. If you can’t find one to suit you in time, that’s fine – green wellies are the classic traditional and will look good with any outfit.
You will need something to carry your personal belongings around the site with you. No matter how safe you think your tent is, or how trustworthy your neighbors may appear, theft at festivals is on the rise. You don’t have to go against fashion to keep your valuables secure; for example, you could wear a galaxy fanny pack in order to keep them close to you and on your person at all times – so something that is both fashionable and functional. You will only need something small anyway to take around the essentials with you unless you are wanting to store things like bottles for water (although you’re better off buying drinks as you go round to stop yourself from getting weighed down). If you need anything bigger, there is a brilliant selection of backpacks ranging in size on ASOS to get you started – you’ll mostly find the best choices online.
Will flower crowns ever go out of style at a festival? It’s looking unlikely, as they’ve been a staple at them ever since the first majors of Woodstock and Glastonbury started rigging up their speakers. You could have a go at following a simple online tutorial and making your own flower headband or crown using either real or fake flowers (obviously the latter will last a lot longer), just so you know you won’t be matching anybody else there. Be sure to keep it well-protected until you get there – you could even wrap it around a hat to make sure that your head is covered from the sun. They’ll look cool wherever they’re placed, to be creative and go with the flow.
