About a week ago, my blog partner and I were invited out to the new Cobb Theatre media event in Daytona Beach Florida. I was super excited because I have been blogging now for six years and I have never ever attended a media event that wasn’t in Orlando. Therefore, when I saw that the event would be on my side of town I filled with excitement. I haven’t been to a theatre in a long time due to the theatre seating not being wheelchair friendly. Meaning I usually have to maneuver out of my wheelchair, sit smack dab in front of the screen and have my ears blasted the entire time. Just not my idea of fun or comfort.
But, oh boy is Cobb Theatre different! Here are 4 reasons I love Cobb Theatre. Lets begin shall we:
Outstanding Good Options
When I go to the theatre I’m use to ordering a tub of greasy buttery delicious popcorn and calling it a day. Yeah I might grab a box of candy or two but that is really the extent of the food options. Not so at Cobb Theatre, they offer a CineBistro where you can enjoy chef prepared American Bistro cuisine, fine wines, signature cocktails and full in theatre service. We were given the opportunity to taste some of the enticing food from the menu and well my eyes were bigger than my stomach. I ordered the Monster Nachos. They were piled high with fried corn tortillas, queso, cheddar and jack cheeses, sour cream and tomatoes. The original dish is served with jalapeños and housemate beef chili, but since I don’t eat beef I requested that they omit those two items from the dish and they did just that. Thank you CineBistro!
Here are pictures of some of the other food options offered at Cobb Theaters in Daytona Beach Florida:
2. D-BOX MFX
There was really nothing else to add to that heading. These seat’s deserve to have a post all of their own. D-BOX seat’s are synchronized to the action of the movie. While we were there they showed a short clip from the Terminator film and oh my gosh you guys it was awesome. While I chose not to transfer into a D-BOX seat, my blog partner did try one out and she loved it. The seat moved up and down and vibrated. One person even commented it was like sitting in a massage chair. There is an $8 up charge for these seats but once you experience them you’ll never want to sit in another chair again. Although if you choose not to upgrade they offer leather recliner seating that allows you to stretch out and really enjoy your movie.
3. Incredible Sound System
Please watch a short clip below of the clarity of the screen and sound system.
The sound was amazing. Cobb Theatre’s uses Dolby Atmos in the Daytona Beach location and you can hear everything so crisp and clear. I was sitting in the front which I’ll speak about more soon and I could see and hear everything very well. But, it was so loud that my ears felt like they would bleed. Dolby Atmos is the new wave of audio for theatre’s. Somehow I feel like my dad will try to figure out a way to get this technology in our home. But until then I will just take him to the theatre.
4. Wheelchair Accessibility
This is so important to me as you guys probably remember from my Grant Me Access post I wrote a while back. If you haven’t read that yet please take a look and share with your friends. At Cobb Theatre they are very determined to make their theatre accessible to all people. They were even inclusive when building the theatre. Guy Austin, Vice President of Operations, told my blog partner and I that they worked with someone who uses a wheelchair and throughout the process they inquired whether they were making things accessible enough. This stood out to me and I will forever be a fan of this theatre.
If you are ever in the Daytona Beach Florida area, please stop by Cobb Theatre in the soon to open Daytona One complex. Opening in 2017 the Daytona One complex will include stores such as; P.F. Chang’s, Hy’s Toggery, Kilwins Confections, Guitar Center ( Very excited about this one), Tervis, IT’SUGAR, Jeremiah’s Italian Ice, Venetian Nail Spa, Sunglass World, Oklahoma Joe’s BBQ, Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery, and MidiCI: The Neapolitan Pizza Company.
It is safe to safe that Daytona Beach may be becoming the new Orlando! I can’t wait to visit these places and tell you all about them. But first, I’m planning to see the more Sing! at Cobb Theatre’s.
